Our End Heart Disease: Plant a Fruit Tree campaign aims to teach people about Dr. Matthias Rath’s groundbreaking scientific discovery that heart disease is caused by an insufficient intake of vitamin C. Fruits are good sources of vitamin C. This means that the widespread planting of fruit trees and eating fruits can help save lives!

The urgent need for action to prevent heart disease is illustrated by World Health Organization (WHO) statistics showing that cardiovascular diseases are now the number 1 cause of death globally. An estimated 17.9 million people died from cardiovascular diseases in 2016, representing 31 percent of all global deaths.

The WHO acknowledges that only a small and negligible minority of the world’s population consumes the generally recommended high average intake of fruits. Not surprisingly, therefore, as with industrialized countries, cardiovascular diseases are becoming major causes of death and disability in developing countries as well.

Towards changing this situation, since 2014 we have supported the successful planting of more than 12,000 fruit trees at schools and homes in Uganda. The fruits produced by these trees have already improved the health and lives of many thousands of people. We are currently in the process of expanding this campaign to further schools in Africa, as well as to hospitals, prisons and other institutions.

The End Heart Disease: Plant a Fruit Tree campaign is closely related to our Free Health for All and Free Food for All campaigns.
