These photos show the development of a new Movement of Life community gardening project at the home of Mr. Mushabe Osbert, a father of 3 children, in Nyamuyanja, Isingiro District, Uganda.
Our team in Uganda first learned of Mr. Osbert’s interest in launching a gardening project earlier this year. He says he was inspired by his daughter, a student at Light Junior Primary School, who told him about the School Health Parliament project she takes part in.
Starting with just one hen in October 2020, Mr. Osbeth now owns a poultry house of over 15 birds. This is already bringing income to the family. There are also fruit trees and some vegetable gardens around the home, which are in the process of being expanded.
Other activities have included training Mr. Osbert’s family in compost manure making. This has enabled them to increase production on their 3 acre banana plantation, which is the main source of the family’s income.
With our help, this family is delighted to have been able to address health and financial problems that were affecting them.
