The Solar Disruption – Why Fossil Fuels and Nuclear Will be Obsolete by 2030

This is a clip from Stanford University Professor Tony Seba’s “Clean Disruption” keynote presentation given at the Swedbank Nordic Energy Summit in Oslo, Norway, March 17th, 2016.

His presentation asserts that four technology categories are disrupting energy and transportation:
1 – Batteries / Energy Storage
2 – Electric Vehicles
3 – Self-Driving Vehicles
4 – Solar Energy

The outcome of this Clean Disruption is that by 2030:

  • All energy will be provided by Solar (plus wind)
  • Distributed solar will eat all other forms of energy.
  • Large scale solar will eat all other forms of large scale energy. Wind will complement solar.
  • Coal, natural gas and nuclear will be obsolete
  • All new vehicles will be electric.
  • All new vehicles will be autonomous (self-driving).
  • Oil will be obsolete
  • 80+ per cent of parking spaces will be obsolete.
  • Individual car ownership will be obsolete.
  • All new energy will be provided by solar (and wind)

Clean Disruption is a technology disruption. Just like digital cameras disrupted film and the web disrupted publishing, Clean Disruption is inevitable and it will be swift.

Tony Seba: Clean Disruption

In this video, Stanford University economist Professor Tony Seba describes how the industrial age of energy and transportation will be over by 2030. Maybe even before. Exponentially improving technologies such as solar, electric vehicles, and autonomous (self-driving) cars will disrupt and sweep away the energy and transportation industries as we know it. The same Silicon Valley ecosystem that created bit-based technologies that have disrupted atom-based industries is now creating bit- and electron-based technologies that will disrupt atom-based energy industries.

Clean Disruption projections (based on technology cost curves, business model innovation as well as product innovation) show that by 2030:

  • All new energy will be provided by solar and wind.
  • All new mass-market vehicles will be electric.
  • All of these vehicles will be autonomous (self-driving).
  • The new car market will shrink by 80%.
  • Gasoline will be obsolete. Nuclear is already obsolete.
  • Up to 80% of highways will be redundant.
  • Up to 80% of parking spaces will be redundant.
  • The concept of individual car ownership will be obsolete.
  • The Car Insurance industry will be disrupted.

Alternate Energy Sources

As this video shows, there is abundance of energy on planet earth. However, multinational corporations and their profit-based systems want to prevent us from accessing it. Urine powered generator in Nigeria

A group of four high school teenage girls solved one of Nigeria’s gravest electrical challenges by inventing a system that uses urine to power a generator. The invention came after years of reported cases of deaths resulting from carbon monoxide poisoning emanating from generator fumes.

Free Energy for All

https://youtu.be/gq49EZQ9PSk
For over a century now, special interests have been controlling the people of the world through maintaining the “tyranny of oil”. Even today, despite the fact that there are natural non-polluting alternatives available to oil, gas and other fossil fuels, these interest groups are trying to prevent us from learning about them and accessing them. Why are they doing this? They are doing it for profit and to maintain their control over the world’s energy supplies.

In the area of energy, therefore, as International Coordinator Jose Serrulla Garrido describes, the goal of the Movement of Life is to end the global dependency on oil and bring about a change to renewable energy.

Wind Empowerment

Interesting video from a team in Athens, Greece, about constructing wind turbines. It describes how small wind turbines offer viable and sustainable means for communities to manage their own local resources and lift themselves out of poverty.

Eco-Friendly Trip around the world

What do a chef from Uruguay, a stage manager from Portugal, and an eco-friendly van have in common? This is a short video about the story of Leandro, Rita and Amarela, who all form together the Green Brick Project. The team set out from Portugal a few months ago, embarking on a world-wide trip of volunteer work (WWOOF). The aim of Green Brick Road Project is to travel around the world, offering services of volunteer work in all sorts of Organic and Permaculture farms, while at the same time reducing the carbon footprint of the journey. To achieve this, the team adapted the trucks engine to run on waste vegetable oil so as to avoid using fossil fuels!
