Letter from Asiimire Traise, of Class Primary 6, Light Junior School, Isingiro, Uganda, to the Coordinator of the Movement of Life in Uganda

3rd MARCH 2020

Dear sir,

I have written to appreciate you for the best things you’re doing for us in our school.

I would like you to know what the Movement of Life has helped me to achieve as a young girl.

First of all, the Movement of Life has helped me to know how to communicate in public through the parliamentary debates.

Secondly, I now know the foods I need to eat and those I need to stop eating for the good of my health.

Thirdly, the Movement of Life has helped me to gain skills whereby I now know how to start small projects like growing vegetables, growing fruits, and bee keeping.

Fourthly, I and my fellow pupils at school have started setting up some projects whereby we can sell harvests and get money to buy books, pens and other things to help our parents.

It has also developed my leadership skills because I have led my fellow pupils as a deputy speaker of our School Health Parliament club for one year.

Thank you very much.

Yours,

ASIIMIRE TRAISE
Deputy Speaker to the School Health Parliament

Dear sir,

This letter has been written to appreciate you for the good things you are doing for us in our school and other schools in the country. We’re really thankful.

I am glad to inform you that through the Movement of life, my life has changed and I can now think positively about my future.

First of all, I have been able to learn how to communicate in discussions like the parliamentary debates. I am no longer shy.

Secondly I have gained skills, especially rabbit keeping, vegetable growing and bee keeping. I can grow and care for my crops.

I have also learnt how to grow crops like cabbages, carrots and spinach, as well as how to care for them.

Also, through our coordinator we have received garden tools such as rakes, hoes, pangas, watering cans and others which we used to see in pictures in textbooks. These were given to our School Health Parliament Club and we are able to use them in gardens, and we also learn about them in Science lessons.

Yours sincerely,

AYESIGAMUKAMA GRACE

  3. Secondly, our class also carries out science practical lessons related to plant growing in our club’s crops, and this has improved performance in the subject.

The Movement of Life is good.

Therefore I love Movement of Life activities with all my heart.

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to appreciate the wonderful things that you’ve done for us in our school and for us as pupils.

I would like to let you know that the Movement of Life  projects have helped us to learn how to share with others, and in the parliament debates we exchange ideas about challenges we face in life and how to solve them.

Secondly, I have learnt how to bed the seeds and to remove them from the bed to plant them while spacing them in big gardens (transplanting).

Thirdly, since you brought this project, we started eating a balanced diet and vegetables like carrots, cabbages, and many others at school, and we look healthy. All these are got from our own gardens.

I have also learnt how to treat some diseases using organic medicine and this has reduced our family’s expenditure on manufactured drugs.

Thank you so much our beloved Gyavira.
