Amanya Emmanuel is a 10-year-old student studying at Light Junior School in the Isingiro District of Western Uganda. Despite being a member of his School Health Parliament club for only 2 months, he is already growing 500 tomato plants and 50 passion fruit plants. He has also set up an apiary consisting of 5 bee hives. As well as feeding his family and improving their health, Amanya is planning to sell the excess produce to help support them financially. He is also planning to start breeding pigs.
As these types of projects gradually become more widespread in Africa, our visions of ‘Health for All‘ and ‘Food for All‘ will begin to become a reality for the African people.
